We had California Kids Fun come to our school and perform for 60 TK (Transitional Kindergarten) students. The performer was fabulous and really understood the sense of humor of 4 and 5 year olds. There was so much laughter and joy during the performance. Kids were engaged and eager to see what would happen next. One of the unique aspects of the show was the ability for the students to interact with the puppets by coming up and touching them and the puppet would engage with them in a silly manner. The students were enthralled. We look forward to having them come back and perform for our school next year.

Program Overview & Educational Value

What types of school assembly programs do you offer?

    We offer two core programs for schools:
    • Educational Puppet & Magic Show ($375, 45 min) — our most popular assembly, combining interactive puppets, live magic, and audience participation with your choice of educational theme.
    • Puppetry Workshop ($395, 35–45 min) — a hands-on behind-the-scenes experience where students learn how puppets work, practice animation, and discover storytelling secrets.
    Both are available as standalone bookings or as back-to-back shows on the same visit (save $50 per program).

Yes! and this is one of our most-requested features. We tailor our Educational Puppet & Magic Show to your chosen theme: Literacy & Reading, STEM, Health & Wellness, Environmental Awareness, Character Education, Cultural Celebration, and more. Just share your focus when booking. Standard thematic customization is included at no extra charge.

Do you offer pre- or post-show classroom materials?

We can provide discussion questions and simple activity ideas to extend the learning before or after our visit. These aren't required - our shows stand alone! but many teachers find them useful for connecting the performance to active classroom content. Just request them at booking.
Age Groups & Assembly Size

What grade levels and age groups do you serve?

  • Educational Puppet & Magic Show: Ages 2–10 (Pre-K through Grade 5)
  • Puppetry Workshop: Pre-K through Grade 5
We adapt our pacing, vocabulary, humor, and participation style to match your audience's developmental stage. Mixed-grade assemblies are no problem! we read the room and adjust on the fly.

What assembly sizes can you handle?

  • Small groups: 10–50 students (classroom or small multipurpose room)
  • Medium assemblies: 50–150 students (standard gym or cafeteria)
  • Large assemblies: 150–500+ students (full-school or multi-grade events)
For very large groups we may recommend a microphone setup. Let us know your expected attendance and we'll advise accordingly.

Can you do separate shows for different grade levels on the same day?

Absolutely! and this is our most popular school format. Back-to-back shows allow you to serve different grade levels with age-appropriate content, all in one visit. You'll also save $50 per program when booking both programs on the same day.

Scheduling & Booking

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking 4–8 weeks ahead, especially for high-demand periods like Literacy Week, Read Across America (March), end-of-year celebrations, and back-to-school events. That said, last-minute availability does come up! reach out and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

What days and times are you available for school assemblies?

    We're available Monday through Friday during school hours. Morning slots (9:00–11:30 AM) and early afternoon slots (12:30–2:30 PM) fill fastest. We work around your school's bell schedule, prep periods, and lunch windows! just share your preferred timing and we'll confirm availability.

How do we officially book?

3. We confirm availability and send a booking agreement
4. Once signed, your date is locked in! we follow up before the event to finalize all details

Is a deposit required to book?

    No Deposit Required:  We do not require a deposit to book your school assembly. Your date is held with a signed booking agreement only. No upfront payment needed.
Space & Technical Requirements

What space do you need for a school assembly?

We work with whatever spaces your school already has:
  • Performance area: 12×12 feet minimum (multipurpose rooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias, and covered outdoor areas all work great)
  • Power: One standard electrical outlet
  • Setup time: 15–20 minutes before the performance
Not sure if your space will work? We're happy to do a quick phone consult or an advance visit for larger events.

Do you need a stage or special equipment?

No stage required. We bring everything we need including our backdrop, props, puppets, and sound equipment. All we need from you is the space, one outlet, and 15–20 minutes to set up before showtime.

Can you perform outdoors?

Yes! We regularly perform at outdoor schoolyard events and covered areas. We ask for a shaded or covered space and a weather backup plan. Flag it at booking and we'll prepare accordingly.

Safety & Professional Standards

Are your performers background-checked?

Yes! Every California Kids Fun performer is background-checked and covered by full professional liability insurance. We are fully insured and provide certificates of insurance upon request! we handle district vendor approval paperwork regularly and are familiar with the process.

Do your performers follow school visitor protocols?

Always! Our performers check in at the front office upon arrival, follow your school's visitor sign-in policies, wear visible identification, and coordinate directly with your designated staff contact throughout the visit. We treat every school campus with the same professionalism you expect from any trusted vendor.

Is the content appropriate for all students?

Yes! Every program is family-friendly, age-appropriate, and free of anything that could exclude, embarrass, or upset students. Our comedy is always kind! never mean-spirited or at anyone's expense. We are mindful of cultural sensitivity and celebrate California's diverse school communities in our storytelling and character choices.

What is your photo and video policy during school performances?

We welcome schools sharing performance moments in newsletters, social media, and internal communications! provided it complies with your school's existing student photo release policies. Let us know your requirements at booking and we'll coordinate accordingly.

Day-of Experience

What should we expect on the day of the assembly?

  • Showtime: 45 minutes of interactive, high-energy performance tailored to your students
  • Post-show: Full breakdown in 10–15 minutes! minimal disruption to your schedule

How should teachers prepare students for the assembly?

No advance preparation is needed. A brief heads-up that a special show is coming can build excitement, but we engage students from the moment they enter the room. Teachers are welcome to stay and participate, many end up being part of the fun!

What if something unexpected happens on the day of our show?

In the rare event of an issue! illness, equipment problem, or unforeseen circumstance! we contact you immediately and work toward a solution right away.
